Custom Add to Cart Text in GT Extensions for FluentCart

Updated October 17, 2026

Custom Add to Cart Text changes the wording on supported purchase buttons. It helps you describe the next action for a course, subscription, free resource or other product.

The label does not change what checkout does. Book Now does not create a booking calendar, and Pre-Order does not by itself add release-date management.

Configure Button Labels

Enable the module and open Configure. You can set the default, out-of-stock, variable-product, free-product, subscription, preorder and external-text labels, along with the options to allow product and variation overrides.

Useful examples include:

  • Add to Cart for a physical product.
  • Enroll Now for a course purchase.
  • Get it Free for a zero-price resource.
  • Subscribe for a recurring product.
  • Request Access only when that wording accurately describes your purchase flow.

Understand Which Label Wins

For supported Add to Cart rendering, the module checks a variation override, then a product override, followed by relevant stock, free, subscription or preorder conditions and the default label.

Product overrides use the Custom Button Text meta box in the WordPress product editing surface when available. Variation overrides use the button-text REST endpoint. Do not look for a separate injected variation-text field in FluentCart’s native editor.

  • Product metadata: _gtfc_add_to_cart_text and _gtfc_buy_now_text.
  • Variation other_info fields: add_to_cart_text and buy_now_text.
  • External Product controls its own destination button and takes priority for an externally configured product.

Check the Buying Context

Open a product page, change its variation and inspect both Add to Cart and Buy Now where they appear. Keep the button wording consistent with stock availability and the next screen. You can pair a free-product button with Free Price Text, but neither setting changes the actual product amount.
