Start Scheduled FluentCart Coupons on Time

Updated October 18, 2026

FluentCart lets you give a coupon a start date and saves it as Scheduled until then. The problem shows up on the day the sale opens. FluentCart refuses a Scheduled coupon at checkout with “This coupon is not yet active.” and only switches it to Active when someone opens FluentCart → Coupons in the dashboard. If nobody opens that list after the start date, the sale is live and every buyer who types the code gets refused.

The Scheduled coupons switch in Extra Enhancements fixes this. The first time a buyer enters the code after its start date, GT Extensions checks the coupon against its own dates, saves it as Active and applies the discount in the same step. You don’t have to be at your desk at midnight to open the Coupons list.

How It Works

The check runs inside FluentCart’s own coupon lookup, so it covers a code typed in the cart or at checkout, a code applied from a coupon link and the order itself. It follows FluentCart’s own date rules:

  • Before the start date nothing is saved. The coupon stays Scheduled and buyers still see “This coupon is not yet active.”
  • From the start date the first buyer who enters the code makes it Active, and the discount applies to their order. Everyone after them finds it already Active.
  • After the end date a coupon still marked Scheduled is saved as Expired, and FluentCart refuses it with “This coupon has expired.”
  • Disabled coupons stay disabled. The switch only touches coupons marked Scheduled.

Usage limits, minimum amounts, product rules and every other condition on the coupon still apply once it is Active.

Turn It On or Off

The switch is on by default, but it lives inside the Extra Enhancements module, and that module starts switched off.

  1. Go to FluentCart → GT Extensions and enable Extra Enhancements.
  2. Click Configure on the Extra Enhancements row.
  3. Under Scheduled coupons, keep Start scheduled coupons on time switched on and click Save settings.

To go back to FluentCart’s own behavior, switch Start scheduled coupons on time off and save. Scheduled coupons then wait for someone to open the Coupons list again. Every other extra in the module has its own switch, so turning this one off changes nothing else.

Good to Know

  • Nothing runs in the background. A coupon is only checked when someone uses its code, so a scheduled coupon nobody has entered yet still shows as Scheduled in FluentCart → Coupons after its start date.
  • Opening FluentCart → Coupons still switches due coupons to Active, the same as before.
  • A code entered a minute before the start date is refused. It is wise to tell buyers the exact start time in your sale announcement, so nobody tries the code early and assumes it is broken.
