The best WordPress themes for writers and poets get three things right that general-purpose themes get wrong: typography (real serif and humanist sans faces, generous line height, comfortable line lengths), restraint (minimal chrome around the words), and reading polish (clean mobile rendering, no clutter between the reader and the text). For poetry specifically, line breaks and indentation are structure, not decoration, and generic themes love collapsing them. Before committing to any theme, paste a stanza-heavy poem into a test post and check that the breaks and leading spaces survive, on a phone as well as a desktop. Primarium, further down this list, is the rare theme designed around poetic writing specifically. And skip any theme that pushes share buttons, related-post widgets, or popups into the reading view.
