Rich Paste in the MailerPress Editor
Pasting a draft from Google Docs into an email editor usually brings stray fonts and broken spacing with it, and headings and lists collapse into one giant text block. Fixing that by hand takes longer than the writing did.
Rich paste turns a paste into native MailerPress blocks. Turn it on with Rich paste under MailerPress editor on Newsletter → Settings → Modules. It works for anyone who can manage MailerPress campaigns.
How to Use It
- Copy content from Google Docs, the WordPress block editor or a web page.
- In the MailerPress editor, click into a text, heading or list block.
- Paste.
If the block still holds its placeholder text, or you selected all of its text, the paste replaces it with the new blocks. Otherwise the cleaned content goes in at the cursor. Pasting plain text works as it always did.
What Becomes a Block
| You paste | It becomes |
|---|---|
| Headings H1 to H6 | Heading blocks, same level |
| Paragraphs | Text blocks |
| Bulleted and numbered lists | List blocks |
| Quotes | Text blocks with a quote |
| Horizontal lines | Dividers |
| Tables | Table blocks, up to 100 rows and 20 cells per row |
| Images | Image blocks, with alt text, link and caption |
| Block-editor buttons | Button blocks |
| Block-editor spacers | Spacer blocks |
Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, text color and highlight from Google Docs are kept. Scripts, embeds, videos, forms and SVGs are dropped.
Things to Know
- Images keep their original address. They aren’t copied into your media library. An image pasted from a private Google Doc may not load for readers, so upload it to MailerPress instead.
- Links keep only
http, https, mailtoandteladdresses,#anchors and MailerPress placeholders such as%UNSUB_LINK%.
