Publish Campaigns Written in MailerPress

Version 1.4.6 Updated October 19, 2026

Not every issue starts in WordPress. A quick note written straight in MailerPress still belongs in your archive, and without it the archive has gaps that new readers notice.

MailerHive checks MailerPress every hour and publishes sent newsletters as issues, with their images copied into your media library. MailerPress’s “view in browser” links then open the issue page instead of MailerPress’s plain web view.

Turn On Mirroring

The settings live under Campaigns written in MailerPress on Newsletter → Settings → MailerPress:

  • Mirror campaigns: on by default.
  • Mirror lists: only campaigns sent to at least one of these lists are mirrored. Customer and transactional sends to other lists stay private.
  • Mirrored issue status: choose Publish immediately or Save as draft for review.
  • View in browser: sends MailerPress “view in browser” links to the matching issue page.

With mirroring on, the first sync publishes every past newsletter campaign sent to your mirror lists, not just new ones. Choose Save as draft for review before the first sync if you’d rather check old campaigns before they go live.

Which Campaigns Qualify

A campaign is mirrored when all of these are true:

  • it was sent, and it’s a newsletter campaign
  • it didn’t come from a MailerPress automation
  • it went to at least 1 of your mirror lists
  • it wasn’t created from an issue, and it hasn’t been mirrored before

When It Runs

Mirroring runs on an hourly schedule, so a campaign shows up within about an hour of sending. To run it now:

  • Sync MailerPress now under Newsletter → Settings → Tools & status
  • wp mailerhive sync in WP-CLI

The Tools & status tab shows the last sync and the next scheduled one. On a site where WP-Cron is switched off, the hourly sync runs only when your server cron triggers it.

The same sync also links back any campaign MailerPress created from one of your issues, so the issue’s Source shows that campaign.

What Changes in Conversion

An email is built for email clients, so MailerHive cleans it up for the web:

  • Removed: the unsubscribe and manage-subscription footer, “This email was sent to you” lines and merge tags.
  • Simplified: layout tables, fonts and inline styles are stripped, so the issue picks up MailerHive’s reading design. Buttons become plain links.
  • Headings: an H1 in the email becomes an H2, since the issue title is the page’s H1.
  • Images: copied into your media library and attached to the issue. Images already on your site stay where they are.
  • Title and date: the title is the campaign subject. The date is when the campaign was last updated in MailerPress.

With View in browser on, a reader who opens a campaign’s web view, at /mp-email/{id}-{slug}/, is sent to the matching issue page with a permanent redirect. The redirect happens only once that issue is published. A draft issue leaves MailerPress’s own web view in place.

Publish One Campaign by Hand

To publish a single campaign as an issue whatever list it went to, use WP-CLI:

wp mailerhive import-campaign 42 --title="Our First Issue" --slug=first-issue

It publishes right away. --title and --slug are optional, and a campaign that was already mirrored just returns its existing issue.
