Troubleshooting

Version 1.4.6 Updated October 19, 2026

Most MailerHive problems come from 3 places: permalinks, WP-Cron and a setting that points at a list or form that has changed. The fixes below start with the quickest check.

Issue Pages Return 404

Select Refresh permalinks under Newsletter → Settings → Tools & status. It fixes 404s after an update, a URL base change or a migration.

No MailerPress Draft After Publishing

  • Automatic drafts are off. Turn them on under MailerPress, or use Create MailerPress draft in the Issue details box.
  • The issue was imported. Substack and mirrored issues never get automatic drafts. Use the button if you want one.
  • There’s no list. Tick lists under Send drafts to or Mirror lists.
  • The issue already has a campaign. The Issue details box shows Open MailerPress campaign. Move that campaign to the trash in MailerPress to create a new one.

A Sent Campaign Didn’t Become an Issue

  • Wait for the sync, or select Sync MailerPress now. Mirroring runs hourly.
  • Check the lists. The campaign has to reach at least 1 of the Mirror lists.
  • Check the type. Automation emails and campaigns that aren’t newsletters are never mirrored.
  • Check the status setting. With Save as draft for review, mirrored issues wait under All Issues as drafts.
  • Check WP-Cron. If Next scheduled sync is in the past, WP-Cron isn’t running. Set up a server cron for wp-cron.php.

Signups Don’t Reach MailerPress

With the consent policy on, a refused signup comes with one of these messages:

  • “MailerPress capture requires a reviewed site consent route.” The form isn’t registered. Register it on the Modules tab.
  • “The MailerPress route changed and needs consent/mapping review.” or “The MailerPress consent control is missing or changed.” The form changed. Register it again.
  • “MailerPress automation state requires review before capture.” Sign-up confirmation is off and an automation is active. Turn confirmation on in MailerPress or disable the automation.
  • “The MailerPress destination list is missing or changed.” The list was renamed or deleted. Fix the form’s MailerPress action, then register it again.

A Paid Reader Can’t Read an Issue

  1. Search for their email under Newsletter → Paid members, with the state set to All.
  2. If they’re missing, select Re-check all purchases.
  3. If they’re still missing, check that their FluentCart price is mapped to a tier on the Paid tab, and that the order is paid or the subscription is active.
  4. If their tier is lower than the issue’s, they need to upgrade.
  • The email has no active access. The form gives the same reply either way, so check the Paid members screen.
  • The limit was reached: 3 requests an hour per email.
  • WordPress can’t send mail. Send a test from your mail plugin. Reading links use WordPress mail, not MailerPress.
  • The product isn’t published. Plans only show prices from published FluentCart products.
  • The tier has no plans. Add a price on the Paid tab.
  • Only the Free card would show. The plans section stays hidden when no paid card has a price.

Issue Pages Look Unstyled or Broken

Blocks that depend on your theme’s theme.json presets lose that styling under theme isolation. Add the styles under Extra CSS on the Design tab, or switch Theme isolation off to load your theme’s assets too.

License Won’t Activate

The License tab’s message names the cause. Installing MailerHive lists each one and its fix.
