Tag MailerPress Contacts from FluentCart
Your store knows who bought what, and your email list doesn’t. Without a bridge, a customer who just bought gets the same email as someone who abandoned their cart, and nobody gets a follow-up that fits.
The FluentCart lifecycle module tags MailerPress contacts from FluentCart purchases, refunds and abandoned checkouts. It respects consent: buyers who didn’t agree at checkout are tagged but never subscribed. Turn it on with Lifecycle tags under FluentCart on Newsletter → Settings → Modules.
What Happens on a Purchase
When an order is paid:
- A new buyer becomes a MailerPress contact. They’re subscribed if they agreed at checkout and unsubscribed if they didn’t.
- An existing contact keeps their status. A purchase never re-subscribes anyone.
- Tags: “Source: FluentCart Purchase”, “Customer: Paid” and “Purchased: {product name}”, plus any category tags. The “Abandoned” tag comes off.
- The customer list: a new buyer who agreed at checkout joins the list named under Customer list, “Customers” by default. An existing contact’s lists don’t change.
- Custom fields:
fluentcart_customer_since,last_purchase_atandlast_purchased_product.
Create the customer list in MailerPress before you turn the module on. MailerHive adds buyers only to a list that already exists with that exact name, and it never creates one.
Checkout Consent
A purchase counts as newsletter consent in 1 of 2 ways:
- The MailerPress Pro checkout checkbox. Switch on its FluentCart checkout checkbox in MailerPress Pro. When a buyer ticks it, its label is saved as the disclosure they agreed to. Nothing else is needed.
- A custom checkout field. Have it post
mailerpress_disclosureormailerpress_subscribewith exactly the text saved under Checkout disclosure.
With neither, a purchase never counts as consent. The buyer is tagged as a customer and stays unsubscribed.
For contacts who already exist when they check out, consent evidence is also saved: consent_form set to fluentcart_checkout, consent_recorded_at, consent_version and the disclosure text.
Refunds
A refunded order adds the tag “Customer: Refunded”. It doesn’t remove “Customer: Paid” or change the contact’s status, so filter on both tags if an automation needs to skip refunded buyers.
Abandoned Checkouts
Once a day, MailerHive looks for FluentCart customers who:
- have no paid order
- have at least 1 order on hold, pending or processing
- started their first order at least 24 hours ago
Each one gets the tag “Abandoned”. A new contact created this way is unsubscribed and on no list.
The “Abandoned” tag goes on every matching contact, whatever their subscription status. If an automation starts from this tag, add a condition on the contact’s status so it emails only people who agreed to hear from you.
