I pay for NordVPN and run the Basic plan every day from India on my laptop and phone, mostly for browsing, streaming and downloads. So the question I care about is the one you probably have too: what does year 3 cost?
Here’s the answer for Basic. The 2-year plan bills $94.23 up front and covers 27 months, about $3.49 a month. From month 28 it renews at $139.08 a year, which is more than the whole first stretch cost. That 27-month price is also $13.50 more than last Black Friday, when Basic sold for $2.99 a month.
My advice is simple. I’d still buy the 2-year Basic plan in this sale, because no other NordVPN price beats it, and I’d turn off auto-renewal the same day. NordVPN’s Black Friday offer runs until December 9, so buying now costs the same as buying on November 27.

Monthly billing gets no sale price at $14.69, $19.49 and $21.49 a month. On the 2-year Basic plan, the first renewal costs about 1.5 times what you paid for the whole first 27 months.

NordVPN’s 2025 sale ran from October 16 to December 10, at up to 74% off. NordVPN dropped its Plus tier around July 2026, so the plans don’t line up one to one:

What the Discount Doesn’t Cover
A few costs sit outside the Black Friday price:
- Renewals. The plan switches to the full yearly price after the first term, billed a couple of weeks before the renewal date.
- Bonus months on a refund. The 30-day money-back guarantee still works, but the 3 extra months go with it.
- A dedicated IP. Only Complete Max includes one.
- Tax. Prices can show GST or VAT on top, depending on your country.
You can turn off auto-renewal in your Nord Account right after buying. The plan keeps running until the end of the term you paid for.
Which NordVPN Plan to Buy
Basic covers everything I use NordVPN for, and it stays out of the way. The only slowdowns I notice come when I connect to a server in a far-off country.
- Basic is enough if you want a fast VPN and nothing else. It’s the plan I pay for.
- Complete adds antivirus, an ad and tracker blocker, a password manager, 1TB of cloud storage and dark web monitoring for $10.80 more over 27 months. It’s worth it if you’d otherwise pay for a password manager.
- Complete Max adds a dedicated IP. I’d only buy it if you need the same IP address every day, for example to reach a work server.

- Possible: Basic back near $2.99 a month for a few days around Black Friday, which one deal site reported for Nov 24 to Dec 1. NordVPN hasn’t confirmed it.
