Show Up in Google Maps When Local Customers Search for What You Sell

I optimize Google Business Profiles for businesses that depend on local visibility. Profile setup, review management, local citations, and Google Maps ranking. If people find you through local search, your GMB profile matters more than your website.

The Problem

Your Competitors Are Getting Calls You Should Be Getting

I work with local businesses every month who can't figure out why they don't show up in Maps. The answer is almost always the same: incomplete profile, wrong categories, zero reviews strategy, and NAP inconsistencies across 30+ directories. Google's local algorithm rewards completeness and consistency. Most businesses deliver neither.

Your profile exists but doesn't rank in the local 3-pack. Competitors with worse service show up first because their profiles are optimized.

No review strategy You have 8 reviews from 2019. Your competitor has 140+ with consistent recent activity. Google sees them as more relevant and trustworthy.

NAP inconsistencies Your name, address, and phone number are different across Yelp, Yellow Pages, and your own website. Google doesn't know which one to trust.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Google My Business still a thing?

It’s been renamed Google Business Profile (GBP) since late 2021. The product is the same but the management surface is now mostly in Search and Maps directly, not the old GMB dashboard. Everything in this service applies to GBP — the names changed, the fundamentals didn’t.

What does optimization actually involve?

Profile completeness (every field filled, including the ones nobody bothers with), category selection (primary + secondary categories that match search intent), service areas, hours including holiday hours, products and services with descriptions, posts published weekly, photos uploaded monthly, reviews requested and responded to, and Q&A managed proactively. Google rewards activity.

How do I rank in the Map Pack?

Three signals: relevance (categories and primary keyword in business name where allowed), distance (no fixing this — it’s where the searcher is), and prominence (citations, reviews, links, and engagement). Most local businesses get stuck because they only optimize for relevance and ignore prominence — review velocity, citation consistency, and on-site local SEO are where the work is.

How many reviews do I need to rank?

Beat your direct competitors. Look at the top 3 in your Map Pack today — match their review count and average rating. Velocity matters more than total volume: 5 reviews this month beats 50 reviews from 2019. The setup includes a review-request workflow that emails or texts customers right after service.

Can I add multiple locations?

Yes. Multi-location setup with separate GBP profiles per branch, location-specific landing pages, schema markup linking the profile to the page, and a centralized dashboard for posts and reviews. Bulk verification is available for chains with 10+ locations.

What about fake reviews or competitor sabotage?

Fake-positive review removal: I report and document each one through Google’s flagging tool. Negative review attacks (fake 1-stars from competitors): same flagging path plus a formal appeal. Success rate is around 60–70% for clearly fake reviews, lower for borderline ones. Building real review velocity is the durable defense.

How long until I see results?

Quick wins (profile completeness, category fix, hours): 1–2 weeks. Map Pack movement (citations, reviews, on-site SEO): 2–4 months. Sustained #1 rankings in competitive niches: 6–12 months of consistent work. I quote realistic timelines and don’t promise overnight results.

What’s the pricing?

One-time setup + optimization: $599 for single location. Monthly management (posts, photos, review responses, reporting): from $299/month. Multi-location chains: scoped per location count.
