Black Friday Furniture Deals 2026

What Wayfair, IKEA, Article and Ashley offered last Black Friday, how the 2025 furniture tariffs change prices and what to buy this year.

Furniture got more expensive to import in late 2025. Since October 14, 2025, upholstered wood furniture such as sofas, sectionals and armchairs has carried a 25% US tariff when it is imported.

That doesn’t stop Black Friday furniture sales, but it changes what the discounts are worth. Furniture stores also often use high “was” prices, so a 50% off tag can sit on a price that barely moved.

So on November 27, the furniture deal worth taking is one you can check against another store and against the same piece a few weeks earlier. Upholstered pieces you already need are the ones to buy this year, because their tariff is scheduled to rise to 30% on January 1, 2027.

Furniture Tariffs Right Now

These are the Section 232 tariffs on wood products that took effect on October 14, 2025:

ProductTariff since October 14, 2025Scheduled for January 1, 2027
Upholstered wood furniture, such as sofas and upholstered chairs25%30%
Kitchen cabinets and vanities25%50%
Softwood timber and lumber10%No change announced

The increases were first set for January 1, 2026. A December 31, 2025 proclamation delayed them by a year, and imports from countries that reach a trade agreement with the US may be exempt.

Wooden furniture that isn’t upholstered, such as most tables, dressers and bed frames, isn’t covered by this tariff. That difference shows up in where the real discounts land.

Black Friday 2025 vs 2026

Last Black Friday came just 6 weeks after the tariff took effect. These were the headline offers from the big US furniture stores, as rounded up by Forbes:

StoreBlack Friday 2025 offer
WayfairUp to 80% off across the site
IKEAUp to 41% off furniture and storage
ArticleUp to 40% off hundreds of styles
AshleyUp to 30% off dining room furniture

Those are “up to” numbers. Most items sold for far less than the headline discount, and the deepest cuts often land on slow sellers and colors being discontinued.

What’s Pushing Furniture Prices Up

Three things changed furniture costs between last Black Friday and this one.

The Section 232 tariff on upholstered furniture. The 25% tariff on upholstered wood furniture and on kitchen cabinets and vanities has now been in place for a full year. Most of that cost lands on sofas, sectionals, recliners and upholstered dining chairs.

The IEEPA ruling helped other furniture. On February 20, 2026, the Supreme Court ended the IEEPA tariffs that had hit much of the furniture made in Vietnam and China. The ruling removed one layer of cost from tables, beds and storage pieces, although other tariffs remain.

The 2027 increase. If the scheduled increase goes ahead, upholstered furniture moves from 25% to 30% on January 1, 2027. That gives a sofa you already need a reason to be bought before the end of this year.

What to Expect This Black Friday

Retailers haven’t announced their 2026 Black Friday furniture sales yet. Most run them from mid-November through Cyber Monday on November 30. What I expect:

  • Likely: “up to” headlines similar to last year’s at Wayfair, IKEA, Article and Ashley.
  • Likely: the best real discounts on tables, beds and storage, which don’t carry the upholstered-furniture tariff.
  • Possible: smaller real discounts on sofas and sectionals, where the 25% tariff is now part of the price.
  • Unlikely: upholstered furniture prices falling back to where they were before October 2025.

These checks tell you whether a furniture deal is real:

  • Compare stores: the same piece is often sold by several stores, sometimes under different names.
  • Check the earlier price: look at the price a few weeks before the sale. A “was” price that never existed isn’t a discount.
  • Add delivery and returns: large-item delivery and return shipping can wipe out a 20% discount.

Best Furniture Deals to Watch

Furniture prices vary too much by piece to pick single products, so these are the 4 stores I’d check first, each for a different job.

Wayfair

Wayfair is the widest catalog and the place to compare prices across many brands at once.

  • Black Friday 2025: up to 80% off across the site
  • Huge range of sofas, beds, rugs and storage from many sellers
  • Quality varies by seller, so read reviews and check the return terms on each item

IKEA has some of the lowest everyday prices, so its Black Friday cuts are smaller but come off prices that are already low.

  • Black Friday 2025: up to 41% off furniture and storage
  • Best for storage, desks, bed frames and first apartments
  • Most pieces are flat-pack, so plan for assembly time or paid assembly

FAQs on Black Friday Furniture Deals

Is Black Friday a good time to buy furniture?

Yes. Black Friday and the holiday weekend sales, such as Presidents Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day, are when furniture stores run some of their biggest sales of the year.

Did tariffs make furniture more expensive?

Yes, for some furniture. Since October 14, 2025, imported upholstered wood furniture and kitchen cabinets and vanities carry a 25% US tariff. Furniture that isn’t upholstered isn’t covered by that tariff.

Will furniture tariffs go up in 2027?

They are scheduled to. On January 1, 2027, the tariff on upholstered wood furniture is set to rise to 30% and on kitchen cabinets and vanities to 50%, unless a trade agreement exempts the country it comes from.

Which furniture gets the biggest Black Friday discounts?

Tables, beds and storage pieces are the most likely to see real cuts this year, because they don’t carry the upholstered-furniture tariff. Discontinued colors and slow sellers often get deep cuts too.

How do I know if a furniture deal is real?

Compare the same piece at another store, check its price a few weeks before the sale and add delivery and return costs before you decide.

Final Remarks

Buy the sofa or sectional you already need this Black Friday, at a price you’ve checked against another store, before the scheduled 2027 increase. For tables, beds and storage, the discounts should be deeper, so hold out for a real cut.
