Turn Modules On and Off

Updated October 22, 2026

A one-person practice and a studio with ten instructors need very different booking screens. Core Bookings ships nineteen optional modules inside the plugin, and every one starts switched off. You turn on only what your business uses, so your menus stay short and nothing runs that you don’t need.

Every module is included with your license. There’s no add-on to buy or download.

Turn a Module On

  1. Go to Bookings → Settings → Modules.
  2. Tick the modules you want. They’re grouped by area, each with a one-line description.
  3. Click Save modules. You’ll see “Modules saved.”
  4. Click Configure beside a module that’s now on to open its settings.

Once a module is on, the Modules screen shows its setup status underneath, such as how many locations are open or whether a provider is connected. A line that isn’t ready tells you what’s missing.

To switch a module off, untick it and click Save modules. Its screens, booking form fields and background work disappear. Its data stays in your database, so switching it back on later picks up where you left off.

Start From a Business Type

Not sure where to begin? Start from a business type at the top of the Modules screen has three buttons. Each one turns on a suggested set. It never turns anything off, and you can change any switch afterwards.

What’s Always On

The Always included list at the bottom of the Modules screen links to the features that have no switch:

  • Google Calendar, Google Meet and Zoom
  • Stripe and FluentCart payments, deposits and balances
  • Session packs, waitlists, recurring bookings and approvals
  • Durations, categories, service directory, popup button, guests and invitation links
  • Customer dashboard and WordPress accounts
  • Core Forms intake, outgoing webhooks, and import and export

Good to Know

  • Only booking managers can change modules. Administrators are booking managers by default.
  • Turning a module on never runs a database migration. Its tables are created when the plugin is installed or updated.
  • Modules added in a future update arrive switched off, so an update never changes what your customers see.
  • A module that’s off still handles privacy erasure requests for data it already holds.
  • The Reports menu entry only appears while Insights is on.
  • Developers can switch modules from the command line too. See WP-CLI Commands.
