Class Timetable, Ticket Types and Courses

Updated October 22, 2026

Once you run more than a couple of classes, people want to see the week at a glance, pick a ticket and sometimes sign up for a whole series in one go. The Classes and events module covers all three: a public timetable, ticket types with their own prices and quantities, and courses that sell every session of a group service as one enrollment.

Everything here builds on scheduled group sessions, so set those up first. The module only changes services whose Appointment type is Scheduled group session.

Turn It On

  1. Go to Bookings → Settings → Modules.
  2. Under Classes and memberships, tick Classes and events and click Save modules. The Classes and workshops starting set also turns it on.
  3. Open a group service in Bookings → Services. A new Classes and events section holds the course, attendee and ticket settings.

The module also adds a Classes screen under Bookings → Services with rosters, check-in and your courses. If you switch the module off later, the service settings are kept and come back when you switch it on again.

Add the Timetable

Add the Class timetable block to any page, or use the shortcode:

[core_bookings_timetable days="7" category="" service="" staff="" page=""]
AttributeWhat it does
daysHow many days to show, 1 to 14, starting today. Default 7. Visitors move with Earlier and Later, up to a year ahead.
serviceGroup service IDs, separated by commas. Empty shows every group service.
staffA staff member’s user ID, to show only their classes.
categoryOnly services with this Category, matched without regard to case.
filters1 (default) shows the Class, Teacher and Category filters. 0 hides them.
pageAddress of a page with a booking form. Empty links to the standalone booking page.

Each day lists its classes with the time, class name, host, price and seats left. Clicking a class opens the booking form with that class, host, date and time already chosen. Full sessions stay on the list as Full with no link. Times use the site timezone, and on small screens the grid turns into a single list.

Visitor filters only narrow what you configured. They never show classes you left out. Invitation-only classes never appear, and unlisted ones appear only when you name them in service. See the timetable demo.

Sell Ticket Types

Ticket types let one session sell at different prices, like Early bird, Standard and Student. In the service’s Ticket types table, each row has a Name, Price, Quantity per session, Sales start and Sales end. You get up to ten. Clear a name to remove a row, and save to get more empty rows.

  • Price replaces the service’s price per seat for that booking. A free service can only have free tickets. A paid service can mix free tickets with paid ones of at least 0.50.
  • A free ticket on a paid service confirms right away, with no checkout.
  • Quantity per session caps how many seats sell at that ticket for one session with one host. 0 means only the session’s seat limit applies. Seats held for payment or approval count toward the cap.
  • Sales start and Sales end use the site timezone. Customers only see tickets on sale right now, and a ticket with an end date shows “on sale until” in the form.
  • The host and booking managers can still book any ticket from the admin, for example at the door.

The cap is checked at the moment of reservation, so two people can’t both grab the last early bird seat. The ticket name shows on the customer’s booking page, the appointment panel, the roster and the CSV. Try it on the Community Meetup demo.

Sell a Course

A course sells every scheduled session of a group service together. Tick Sell every scheduled session together as one course on a service with 2 to 52 sessions.

  • Customers book the first session and the form lists every date. They get a seat in all of them, or none. If any session is full or blocked, nothing is reserved.
  • The service price (or ticket price) is the course price per seat. It’s split across the sessions and charged once at checkout.
  • Discount codes, member discounts, tax and gift cards apply to the course as a whole.
  • The timetable shows only the first session, labelled with the session count, and its seats left are the seats at the fullest session.
  • Customers can cancel single sessions within your cutoff, and a cancelled session can be refunded for its own share. They can’t reschedule a course session. The host or a manager can.
  • Managers can cancel a whole enrollment from the roster with Cancel enrollment.

Set Booking horizon (days) far enough to reach the last session, or the course can’t be booked. The first session closes when your minimum notice starts. See the Website Audit Course demo.

Limits

  • Ticket types, courses and attendee names need a scheduled group session.
  • A course can’t use a waitlist or session packs. Turn both off on the service first. Membership credits don’t cover courses either, though member discounts still apply.
  • Adding sessions to a course later doesn’t change existing enrollments.
  • An appointment you add from the admin on a course service books one session only.
  • Seats left on the timetable are as fresh as your page cache. The booking form still checks the host’s calendar and capacity, so a listed class can turn out to be unavailable.
