Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor with Site Agent
Your agent can only manage bookings once it can sign in to your site, and copying passwords into an AI client is the part most people want to skip. Site Agent solves that. It’s a free plugin that gives Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients one address to connect to, with a normal WordPress sign-in where you approve the agent.
Site Agent 0.4 and later also hand every connected agent the Core Bookings skill: the instructions that tell it how to read your schedule, when to ask you first and how to explain errors. That’s why it’s the route we recommend on the AI agents screen.
Before You Start
- WordPress 6.9 or later.
- The AI agent abilities module switched on in Bookings → Settings → Modules. Which abilities agents get is covered in Let AI Agents Manage Your Bookings.
- A WordPress account for the person connecting the agent. The agent acts as that user, with that user’s permissions.
Connect Your Agent
- Install Site Agent on your site. It’s free.
- Turn it on in Tools → Site Agent.
- Open Bookings → Settings → AI agents. Under Connect an AI agent, the screen now shows your MCP server address. It looks like
https://example.com/wp-json/site-agent/v1/mcp. - Add that address as an MCP server in your agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client).
- Your agent opens a WordPress sign-in. Sign in and approve it. There’s no password or key to copy.
- Ask for what you need, for example “Which requests are waiting for approval?”
If your agent doesn’t list the booking abilities as tools, turn on PHP execution in Site Agent’s settings. The skill then shows the agent how to run each ability through Site Agent’s PHP tool.
To disconnect an agent, revoke it in Tools → Site Agent.
What the Screen Tells You
The AI agents screen checks Site Agent on every visit and tells you the next step:
| Site Agent is… | What you see | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not installed | A recommendation to install it | Install Site Agent (free) |
| Older than 0.4 | A warning with the installed version | Update Site Agent so it hands agents the Core Bookings skill |
| Installed but switched off | A warning | Turn it on in Tools → Site Agent |
| On, version 0.4 or later | A success notice: connected agents already get the skill | Connect your agent |
A Site Agent line on the Modules screen, and in the output of wp core-bookings checks, also shows whether it’s ready and which version is serving the skill.
The Core Bookings Skill
With Site Agent 0.4 or later, you don’t need to install anything in your agent. Site Agent serves the skill that ships with Core Bookings, and it updates when you update the plugin. The skill tells the agent to:
- Start every session by reading your site’s timezone, currency, modules and offered abilities.
- Read an appointment, schedule or service before changing it, and never guess an ID.
- Ask you before cancelling, declining, rescheduling, marking a no-show, resending a confirmation, adding time off or changing a service, unless you asked for that exact change.
- Tell you who gets an email, give short factual reasons and show times in your business timezone.
- Send you to wp-admin for refunds, settings and anything the abilities don’t cover.
Download the Skill for Other Agents
Agents that don’t connect through Site Agent can add the skill themselves. Click Download the Core Bookings skill on the AI agents screen to get core-bookings-skill.zip. It holds the skill and an install note with your site’s address, the Site Agent endpoint, the Abilities REST address and where to create an Application Password. It never contains passwords or keys.
- Claude Code: unzip it into
~/.claude/skills/. - Claude Desktop, claude.ai or another agent that reads SKILL.md folders: upload the ZIP.
Without Site Agent
Site Agent is a recommendation, not a requirement. The abilities are standard WordPress abilities, so two other routes work:
- The WordPress MCP adapter. Keep List these abilities as tools for MCP clients, such as the WordPress MCP adapter ticked on the AI agents screen, and the adapter’s default server lists them as tools. Add the downloaded skill to your agent so it follows the same rules.
- The Abilities REST API. Create an Application Password in your WordPress profile and call
/wp-json/wp-abilities/v1/abilities/core-bookings/<name>/run. Details are in the REST API reference.
Revoke a REST connection by deleting its Application Password from the user’s profile.
Good to Know
- Connect the agent as the user whose access you want it to have. A staff member’s agent sees only that person’s appointments.
- Core Bookings never sends booking data to an AI service. What your agent’s provider does with the answers it reads is covered by that provider’s terms.
- The skill can’t make an agent infallible. Read what it plans to do before you say yes, especially for cancellations and bulk approvals.
